CHOIR
The St. Stephen's Girls' College Alumnae Choir started in 1986 when a group of alumnae singers reunited to ready a singing performance at the School's 80th Anniversary. The Choir has since then regularly performed in School Anniversary Celebration Events, Concerts, Thanksgiving services and many other occasions. Making music together is a very treasured and important part of our growing up at St. Stephen's. The establishment of the Choir has allowed for the continuance of the love of music and especially when different generations of alumnae all come together sharing the same love of singing. Going into its 30th anniversary, the Choir has grown to consist of graduates from 1950's to 2012, providing the platform for some mothers and daughters, aunties and nieces, sisters, cousins, colleagues , neighbours, old and new friends to enjoy the precious fellowship of singing together!
ORCHESTRA
SSGC Alumnae Orchestra was formed in 2008. It was first initiated by two of our old girls, Lee Wai Yee and Leonie Lee Hoi Lun. It is a gathering of alumnae who continue to enjoy playing music and participating in the orchestra. We are growing every year and we continue to encourage and welcome alumnae to join us.
The debut performance of the SSGC Alumnae Orchestra was held in December 2008 in Jockey Club Hall of the secondary school. Since then, we held performances every year, during Christmas and participate in anniversary celebrations of the school.
In 2011, we performed jointly with the secondary school orchestra in the 105th anniversary dinner at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, as well as the 105th Anniversary Concert at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
Our conductors Mr. Chow Cheuk Bon and Ms. Anita Tam (alumnae and past conductor of the SSGPS orchestra), have dedicated their time for the orchestra and many of us are able to brush up our skills and enjoy the wonderful experience of playing music together again.
